What Changed with Cabrinha Kiteboarding Gear for 2016?

For 2016, Cabrinha has 7 models to choose from when building the ultimate quiver.

2016 Cabrinha Switchblade:

The Switchblade, coming into its 11th year, has been an industry leader in all around performance and it's 5 Strut layout offers great stability and predictability. Riders love the switchblade because it is one of the few kites that performs for many disciplines. Compared to previous models, this years kite will have a lighter bar pressure, thinner profile and better re-launching.

What's New for the 2016 Cabrinha Switchblade?

  1. More width in the wingtips toward the center of the kite.

Results: Less sensitive to stalling & a faster, more nimble design.

  2. Thinner Profile

    Results: Higher performance, faster steering.

  3. Wider Arc Shape

    Results: Better Re-Launch capabilities.

  4. Segmented Struts

Results: Increased Stability, quicker steering, more responsive.

What's New with the 2016 Cabrinha FX?

The Cabrinha FX is a cross between the competition Chaos and the perfomance/ freeride Switchblade. It is the premier freestyle crossover kite with a med to high aspect ratio and a fast flying profile that delivers explosive pop and incredible slack when doing unhooked maneuvers.

    Compared to the Chaos
    1. Slightly wider Arc profile & wider wingtips.
Results: Easier Re-Launch, responsive steering, great for kite-looping.

What's New for the 2016 Cabrinha Contra?

The Contra is a 3-strut, lightweight kite, specifically designed for lightwind kiteboarding to get you up and riding in the least amount of wind possible. It's ultra full profile delivers incredible power and with the right board. Great low end power and more de-power than 2015 make this kite a wise choice for larger, flatter rocker twin-tips and foil boards.

    Features for the 2016 Contra:

    1. Lightwind Efficiency: Sits deeper in the window for low end grunt.
Results: Easy to get up and riding in the lightest of conditions.

    2. Easy Re-Launch for a larger kite.
Results: Safe and user friendly in lightwind conditions

    3. Lots of de-power.
Results: When the wind comes up, you can still hang on to the Contra with the amount of de-power it has. This, combined with it's fast turning, allows the Contra to boost surprisingly well for freestyle riders and also works well in the waves.
